    Scientifically Popular "PETERSBURG ASTRONOMICAL FESTIVAL"
    The Astronomy Fans Club "SPAGO" and the Lermontov Central Library invite everyone to take a fascinating journey into the secrets of the universe. Festival guests will be able to attend lectures, master classes and a photo exhibition of amateur astronomers; listen to poems about space performed by poetess Vega Breeze, take part in a quiz and look at a real telescope.

    "THE TRIUMPH AND TRAGEDY OF A SCIENTIST. TO THE 160TH ANNIVERSARY OF ALEXANDER POPOV, THE INVENTOR OF RADIO"
    This exhibition is devoted to the 160th anniversary of Alexander Popov, the inventor of radio. It tells of the difficult fate of Alexander Stepanovich Popov, a Russian scientist who made one of the most important discoveries in the history of mankind, and passed away in the prime of life; about the difficulties faced by scientists involved in the implementation of radio communications, and of how radio changed the world and became the basis of many modern technologies. The exhibition presents the original devices used by A.Popov; the first radio receiver that he invented, and other unique exhibits, including photographs, documents, and memorial items.

    Irish Film Festival
    The festival is held annually in March and is dedicated to St. Patrick's Day. Petersburg program will open the film "Black 47th" with a star cast. Viewers will also see a drama about family relationships "Season of Betrayal", a documentary about the legendary fighter "Conor MacGregor: The Scandalous", animated short films "Irish Serious Stories" and other interesting novelties of Irish cinema. All films are shown in English with Russian subtitles.

    23rd Festival of School Theaters in German - 2019
    The only regional festival of school theaters in Russia in the German language annually attracts about three hundred children and adolescents. In 2019, the best theater groups from St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad and Murmansk will present their interpretations of classical and contemporary literary works, as well as their own productions in German. The theater group from Poland will be the guest of the festival.

    Festival to the 180th Anniversary Modest MUSORGSKY Birth
    Concerts of the festival will reveal to listeners the most diverse facets of the creative heritage of the great composer, whose genius was ahead of his time in many ways. There will be “Pictures at an Exhibition” orchestrated by Sergey Gorchakov, which is not so well known to the general public; the fantasy “Night on Bald Mountain” is one of the most striking orchestral compositions by Musorgsky; works inspired by oriental flavor and biblical themes. In all its magnificence, the composer’s opera and vocal music will be presented - scenes from the operas ”Khovanshchina” and ”Boris Godunov”, the vocal cycle ”Songs and Dances of Death”.

    “HERZEN CHORAL ASSEMBLIES - 2019” 10th Russia-Wide Festival of Choirs and Vocal Ensembles
    Herzen choir assemblies have been held for more than 10 years and annually gather on the banks of the Neva hundreds of bands from St. Petersburg, the Leningrad Region, Novgorod the Great, Petrozavodsk, Pskov and other cities. The project is aimed at the preservation and development of domestic traditions of vocal and choral performance, the creation of a pedagogical, scientific and creative atmosphere conducive to the exchange of the accumulated experience of teachers and musicians. The program of events includes a competition of choral groups and vocal ensembles, master classes, and a conference. As part of the Assemblies will be Mikhailov Choral festival, which will be attended by the best educational and professional teams of the city.

    “PIONTEK DAYS”
    "Piontek Days" are held annually under the auspices of the St. Petersburg Union of Scientists. The project was initiated by friends, followers and students of Georgi Vladimirovich Piontek - an architect, an artist, an ethnoculturologist who dedicated his life to saving monuments of culture of different peoples, searching for and preserving unique samples of equipment, tools, and objects of outgoing life. “Days of Piontek” are meetings, exhibitions, discussions and creative evenings, the themes of which are connected with the widest circle of interests and creativity of Georgi Piontek, with the understanding of the spiritual heritage of this amazing and selfless man.
