January 27, 2020, Youth action in the memory of “900 DAYS AND NIGHTS” in the Courtyard of St.Petersburg Academic State Capella (Moika River Embankment, 20)


The 76th anniversary of the lifting of the Siege of Leningrad is dedicated to the Youth action in memory of 900 Days and Nights, which will be held on January 27 in the Courtyard of St. Petersburg Academic State Capella. Free admission.

In memory of the heroic feat of the citizens and soldiers who defended our city during the Great Patriotic War, young residents of city will create a living memorial in the courtyard of the Academic State Capella. Windows crisscross sealed with paper, artillery pieces and anti-tank barriers, billboards with posters of war years, stands with military documents, letters, photographs, candles and flowers will be presented.

The Western Military District will provide military equipment, St. Petersburg Academic State Capella and Shostakovich Academic Philharmonic will present genuine posters of the war years, the Archival Committee and Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library will show documents, war letters and photographs.

Young residents of St. Petersburg - university students and students of schools in St. Petersburg - prepared a theatrical and musical performance dedicated to the memorable date. Songs and poems of the war years will be heard. Soloists from the School of the Young Artist “Voices” will also perform.

During concert, veteran blockaders, those who shared all the hardships of war with their city, will share their memories with young people.

The reenactors of the Khorugv club, members of the all-Russian public association Rosrekon, will talk about the war and demonstrate household items and weapons of the Great Patriotic War. In a military tent, nurses will show how they made dressings for the wounded.

A newsreel will be shown on the facade of the Capella building, which will transfer residents of  Petersburg to the besieged Leningrad, episodes illustrating the great feat of our compatriots, relatives and friends, grandparents who did not spare their lives to protect the city and our future.
