March 26 – December 31, 2021. "CHINA BOX. CHINESE IMAGES AND MOTIFS ON THE RUSSIAN MUSICAL STAGE". Virtual Exhibitions


Оn the eve of World theatre day (March 26, 2021) on the site of St.  Petersburg State Theater Library in the section "Virtual exhibitions" (https://www.exhibitions.sptl.spb.ru/) will appear new exposition.

By visiting virtual exhibition "China box. Chinese images and motifs on the Russian musical stage" one will find ballets and operas inspired by the mysterious and exotic world of China. "Bronze horse" by Danial Auber, "The Mandarin’ s Son" by Caesar Cui, "Nightingale" by Igor Stravinsky, "Son of the sun" by S. N. Vasilenko, "Turandot" by Giovanni Puccini, "Red poppy" by P. M. Glier, «Lilly» by choreographer Arthur Saint-Leon – all these performances on the Russian stage were put on at the different time and differently accepted by critics and audience.

The exposition exhibits engravings, drawings, photos, librettos and original costume sketches kept in the Library collections.
